LapSnapper Lap Timing System can be used on all types of the Android devices such as Android Tablets, Minicomputers, TV boxes and Mobile Phones. LapSnapper is compatible with the Android version 5 or newer. Although the minimum supported Android version is 5, it is recommended to have Android version 7 or newer. Android device has to support USB 2.0/3.0, USB Type-C 2.0/3.x or Micro USB with the USB Host/OTG Mode. All new Android devices normally supports USB C 2.0/3.x. Android device need to support the wired lan or WiFi, when the LapSnapper Client&Monitoring Software, third party Race Management Software or printer are used. It is also recommended that Android device supports external speakers, when the automated race commentary are used.
Development of the Android tablets have been progressed recently well and the newest Android tablets works well with the LapSnapper. Currently we recommend for example to use a new Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ Android tablet and USB C Docking Station with the LapSnapper. New Samsung tablet has reliable hardware/software, price is reasonable and it will get software updates still years. Tablet can be charged and use the USB Data simulataneously (= Charging the tablet and use the LapSnapper Decoder simultaneously) , it can be connected to wired lan, it has extra USB connectors, when a USB C Docking Station are used with the tablet. All these new features makes it possible to build advanced lap timing system around the tablet with the reasonable costs.
Only disadvantage with the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ is that it doesn’t support screen mirroring via HDMI to TV with/without USB C Docking Station. This feature are normally supported by high end tablets such as Samsung Galaxy Tab S8/S9 Series tablets. Screen mirroring is easy and the cheapest way but it is not the most optimal way to share measured lap times around the race track area. LapSnapper offers optional sofware product, which is called LapSnapper Client&Monitoring Sotware. It makes it possible to share the measured lap times to the TVs, which are connected to the Android TV Box via wired lan or WiFi. Android TV Boxes are running LapSnapper Client&Monitoring Sotware.
